Speaking of new beginnings...

Let me start off by saying...wow! This blog thing is great. I logged on for the first time today and was pleasantly surprised. I thought I would add a bit about what is going on in the Smith (non Marc and Julie chapter) household. Summer has finally come to Boston and we are reving up for a major life change. We're moving to the 'burbs. We close on our first house in 9 days and couldn't be more excited to leave the noises of the city (and our upstairs neighbors) behind. I've attached a picture which doesn't even come close to competing with beautiful Anusha - what a sweet baby! We'll keep you all posted in the weeks ahead and look forward to more updates from all of you and your new and soon-to-be babies.

Announcing the birth of Anusha Landis Jha

Greetings all...here are some photos of little Anusha...

She was born Wednesday, April 25, 2007 at 3:22 p.m. (2 1/2 weeks early and right in the middle of final exams -- the best excuse I've ever had to ask for a 6 week extension!). She was 5 lbs., 14 oz. and 17.5 inches. Nice and small. She is growing well, fitting into "newborn" clothes now (as opposed to the preemie onesies) and a really great baby. She sometimes throws herself like a fish off of our shoulder and makes a lot of facial expressions...not a boring baby at all!

I won't bore you with more details, enjoy a few photos by going to . . .

We had a photo shoot yesterday but none of those are on this. I'll post some of those soon...Anuraj got some really great and artistic shots of baby and mom! : )

Another Change for Steve and Em's family

It seems all of us girls decided to go into a mode of change at one time. So, it seems I am getting closer to the Landis family roots...This week I moved to Akron, PA after accepting a job with Ten Thousand Villages headquarters as Sales Trainer. I'm excited about the position and am eager to begin what will be almost 40% travel! Adjusting to small town life after Seattle will be a process but I am sure the travel will help to ease that. I must admit I'm also looking forward to less stress and more free time.

In case you haven't heard. . .

I leave for Basic Training with the Marine Corps on Tuesday, Feb. 20th. This initial training will be in San Diego for 13 weeks, followed by a short period of time off, then continued training and job specific education. Once my training is completed, I will be assigned to an air division, where I will finish out the remainder of my 4 year active duty contract. Your prayers and support are much appreciated, as I'm looking forward to a very challenging experience.

Engagement Announcement

We are excited to announce that on January 28, at a celebration party with family and friends, Jill and Anuraj exchanged rings signifying their engagement and intent to marry! In addition to good conversation and laughter, everyone also enjoyed great cheesecake made for the occasion by Emily's sister, Catherine. Details for the marriage ceremony and reception are still being planned

Seattle Sees Sunny Days

It has been the longest winter here in Seattle! Windstorms, snowstorms, icestorms, blackouts... The sun has finally come back and I think it's here to bid me farewell. I'm getting ready to move back to the midwest. I have sent all my belongings back to the midwest and I will follow in a couple weeks. My last day at work is February 9th and Ashes(my kitty) and I will probably be flying home on the 14th. I still don't have definite plans beyond moving home. I'm flying to PA to interview for a position with Ten Thousand Villages headquarters this week, so I may end up there if I get that position...otherwise I'll settle into Goshen and enjoy being near family again. Still...when it's as sunny in Seattle as it was today I think how there is no where else I'd rather be.

Snowstorm

Here's a picture of our place after we dug out from the 34 inches of snow we received.
